The Day My Butt Went Psycho

Teletoon threw a cheeky launch party June 3rd at Toronto’s Corus Quay to celebrate the upcoming premiere of their new show THE DAY MY BUTT WENT PSYCHO.  Based off the best selling book of the same name by Andy Griffiths, THE DAY MY BUTT WENT PSYCHO hits Canadian televisions June 12 at 6:30pm on Teletoon. THE MAGAZINE got to attend the launch party and received an exclusive look at the show.

Guests of the event arrived in style by sliding their way into the party down Corus Quays’ indoor slide.  Once inside the launch party there were lots of butt themed activities to do, and food to eat.  Before sitting down to watch an episode, THE MAGAZINE was able to take our turn at drawing our own butt characters, getting Photoshopped into the cast, and munching on some yummy butt-shaped burgers from the show’s own The Cheekburger Restaurant.

Once our stomachs were filled, ANDREA JENNA, host of CAN’T MISS THURSDAYS on Teletoon greeted everyone and presented a surprise. A special message from author Andy Griffiths all the way from Australia!  Event goers were thrilled to see Andy as he shared his excitement about the new show. Then, it was finally time to watch THE DAY MY BUTT WENT PSYCHO.

The show revolves around Zack (voiced by Mac Heywood), an average 12 year-old boy who loves skateboarding, video games, and hanging out with his best friend Deuce, who happens to also be his butt. Yes, we said butt! The butts have detached themselves in the hopes of no longer being on the bottom! Zack, Deuce, and their friend Eleanor are butt fighters who attempt to stop evil butts from taking over the town.

The show continues where the books left off, after the butt wars. Harmony and friendship is beginning to form between the humans and their butts. Not all is peaceful because evil butts Maurice, The Prince and The Great White Butt are still attempting to take over the town. MATT FERGUSON, the director of THE DAY MY BUTT WENT PSYCHO says they choose to start the show after the butt wars in order to make the show more comedic and to be able to address many different topics. Matt assured us that fans of the books will not be disappointed though because they will still have an inside scoop on some of the secrets and mysteries.

Matt never would have guessed he would be directing a show all about butts! He enjoyed working on the show and accessing his inner six year old! Matt tells us that the hardest part about working on the show was creating a butt that looked cute and was appropriate to put on TV!

Make sure to catch the premiere of THE DAY MY BUTT WENT PSYCHO June 12th at 6:30pm on Teletoon. In the meantime you can get the gear you need to be a top butt fighter at buttsmart.ca
